MY STORY

Munchen Bakery was born out of the pure love for baking.

The founder Fei came from an IT background, during Covid-19 lockdowns, Fei fell in love with creating baked goods out of simple ingredients of flour, water and salt. Micro bakery is a modern business model which operates from a home-based bakery, all breads are made to order and delivered to your doorsteps. All the sourdough based products are guaranteed to be baked on the day of delivery. Freshness is the key. I source our ingredients from local suppliers and try my best to cater for customer's allergy requirements. I hope you treasure the goodness of small batch hand made baked goods just as much as I do!

I use the sustainable range of flour from Wholegrain Milling which are all grown and milled in NSW.
Apart from the regular sourdough based products, I offer seasonal sweet treats for you to choose from month to month. Look out for them and be sure to follow Munchen Bakery on social media platforms for updates.

Useful Information

WHY SOURDOUGH?

Simple answer is - less is more! There's no additive or preservative involved. No commercial yeast. No shortcuts. You know what's in your bread - flour, water and salt. The long, slow fermentation makes a loaf of sourdough bread more nutritious than yeasted bread, as the body can access and absorb more of the fibre, vitamins and minerals contained in the loaf. So that the sourdough bread is easier digested, and it increases resistant starch, which can control blood sugar!

CAN I BUY YOUR BREAD FROM A SHOP OR MARKETS?

Absolutely!

Every Saturday morning, a batch of freshly baked loaves are delivered to Mount Evelyn IGA (38-40 York Rd, Mount Evelyn VIC 3796) usually around 11am.

Deliveries for Carter Bros Fruit & Veg Silvan with fresh country/seeded/fruit loaves will be every Friday and Saturday mornings around 9:30am.

DELIVERY INFORMATION

Delivery areas update:

For postcode 3796 (Mount Evelyn, VIC) and 3140 (Lilydale, VIC), free delivery for orders above $20. For orders below $20, delivery fee is $2. 

Deliveries are on Fridays between 11am-2pm. If you prefer your order to be delivered before certain time, please leave a note when placing the order and I will try my best to cater for it.

If you are ordering multiple items and want them to be delivered on the same day, please make sure you choose the same delivery date for all of them.

You don't have to be in for deliveries, just leave a message when you place the order to advise where to leave the deliveries if you're not home (especially if you have pets, it's better to be a place out of reach of your fur babies). If you are concerned about the birds, you can leave a box or basket with lid for me to pop the bread inside.

Please note, if you choose to pick up the order but fail to show up within 48 hours of the first pick up notification was sent, the product will be disposed and unfortunately no refund will be accepted.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Choose the products you want, order and select a delivery day. You can choose a subscription or once off purchase. Make the payments and the rest is on us. On the nominated delivery day, you'll have freshly baked goods at your doorstep.
If you have any allergies and would like certain ingredients to be left out, please leave a message when placing an order.

Please sign up to a weekly subscription if you want to secure some loaves each week. As I have a production limit per delivery and if you're a subscription customer, your order will be prioritized.

If you wish to order the products that's not in the regular baking schedule (marked as "Out of stock" on the website), please get in touch in the "Contact Us" section to place an order. As I can only keep a small range of products on the regular bakes but happy to discuss so I can arrange for extra products to be baked. 

DO YOU SLICE LOAVES

Unfortunately as I'm running in a home-based bakery, I don't have the space or funds for a bread slicing machine. So all loaves are sold as whole un-sliced. Please don't request sliced loaves if you can.

HOW ARE THE PRODUCTS PACKAGED?

All the products are packaged with an eco-friendly brown paper bag (no plastic packaging) and sweets will be either in a paper bag or paper box. The paper bags and boxes are composable and recyclable. Note: labels aren't composable.

HOW DO I KEEP MY BREAD FRESH?

For Sourdough loaves and Sourdough sandwich loaves, they're best consumed when fresh but you can keep them in an airtight container or a zip bag at room temperature (below 30 Celsius) for 3-5 days or in the fridge for up to 7 days. They toast up beautifully. Alternatively, if you don't intend to consume them straight away, you can freeze the loaves and heat them up in the oven easily. Please note, if you notice some white spots on the bread within a week, that's most likely the flour residue as a result of shaping. Don't panic, it's not mold. 

GLUTEN FREE?

Unfortunately, as restricted by the baking space I have, suggested by the Health Officer, it would be impossible for me to offer any gluten free options at the moment due to potential cross contamination

SUBSCRIPTION

If you're interested in signing up for a subscription, there's an known issue of Wix that you can't put multiple items in one subscription. I know, it's frustrating! If that's the case, please leave me a message so I can create the product combo for you!

Subscriptions can be suspended or cancelled whenever you want, just drop me a message and easily done!

ORDER CUT-OFF?

Given the long fermentation process required to produce a Sourdough loaf, here's the cut-off time:
For Friday deliveries, you'll need to place the order before Wednesday 8pm.
